Fall has always been an active time for me and my fiancee. We met in late August and started our relationship with some amazing fall fun! Going to concerts, festivals, farmer’s markets, and the state fair. From then on, we always thrived in the fall. We spend our weekends on adventures around our own backyard. Incorporating festivals into dates, veggies from the farmers market into our dinners and Pumpkins from the pumpkin patch into our home decor. Today I am excited to share some local events for you to enjoy this fall!
September 27-October 6
Who doesn’t love the state fair and all its fried goodness? If the greasy fried Oreos and cotton candy are not for you, there a plenty of local vendors, rides and farm animals to check out during the day. Some of my favorite activities include the demolition derby, the famous pig racin, and Locash performing the last night!
Sept 29 – Oct 20
Sun-Thurs: 9:00– 6:00, Fri-Sat: 9:00 – 7:00
If you have never made the trip to Carter Mountain in Charlottesville, go ahead and make a plan to! While you are there you can go and pick your own apples right off the tree. If you arent so much for picking your own, they have lots of options in the country store, along with amazing apple cider donuts, highly recommended! Once you’ve worked up a good thirst, head to the Bold Rock tasting room for a delicious Virginia cider. You won’t be disappointed with the beautiful view over the Blue ridge while you sip your drinks.
Gourds, Goblets and Ghouls Festival
October 12th – 13th
This festival has been a long-time favorite for Jacob and me. Held at Hanover vegetable farm, you have the chance to try a variety of local Virginia wines, buy local goodies from fantastic vendors, have lunch with local food trucks and even go to the pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkin. Did I mention all this for only $12.00? So grab your wine glass, sing along to some live music and take all the fall festivities in, I don’t know a better way to spend a beautiful fall day in RVA!
October 11-13
